And a great good morning to T-Net. Here we go. For years now I've had the Gold Trax hanging on the wall in my "Fort" with other detectors. When I bought this back in the day, I had only been detecting a few years perhaps, at the time, 1995 I think, it was kind of a "Top of the line" detector, about $750.00. It was also somewhat over my head at the time to learn as well. Still have it, still looks new, now I'd like to play around with it just for the heck of it. But you know, reading the manual again, still at a loss somewhat. Example; it has 8 adjustable ground tracking speeds, 8 adjustable pinpoint mode gain settings, 256 threshold level adjustments, 16 different auto tuning speeds, and something called "Slew?". List goes on. Factory preset, say for ground tracking speeds, is the slowest in the fastest setting?, and have NO idea why to try changing from one to another, there is no explanation as to why. Not even going to ask about the 16 different auto tuning speeds etc. etc. etc. My plan is to just go with the factory pre-set and try a little coin shooting in a park I've been to a bazillion times before, and lean a little something with it, again just for fun. Now, has ANYONE out there owned or have had any time with the Gold Trax, any tips? any insights? any anything? It's a long shot, we're talking a detector of 20+ years ago, but somehow I think I might have a "undiscovered diamond" of a detector on hand, only problem it has had is the owner, "Me". I think it operates at 12Khz, which sounds pretty good to me. Any thoughts would be welcome, and again, the booklet explains the features and how to get to them, but not why or when you would and for what purpose. This thing is built like a tank, but so well balanced, and of course pretty with the gold color control box. Not much of anything on the internet about them, other then the original review of them. So, that's about it.
