Discrimination question

Not a big deal to me, but I am curious. I’ve been running my Simplex in Park 2 mode. Most times on IDs 15 and lower I get a low audio signal or no audio signal. Every now and then I’ll get a loud signal with the screen showing a 4 ID (or 5,6,7,8) I change angles, etc and it is the same. I dig the target and find a nail, tin can, etc. Why does it give full volume on these IDs so often? Thanks
