Discussing 2-box operation

So, I am still wanting a 2-box, and it will probably wind up being a Gemini-3. But I really want to ask how on the heck does the Whites TM-808 work I saw a video produced by Whites and I watched the guy put it together. I may be wrong, but I didn't see where the two loops were electrically connected to the box Makes no sense to me. They are just slipped into the poles and tightened down with a thumb screw. At least the Gemini has electronics and batteries in each box. I just can't wrap my head around the technical operation of the TM808. Just curious.

It uses a 1/4 stereo jack in the tube.

the pic of the plug inside the tube of the antenna isn't clear, but you get the idea.
it connects to the jack when the tubes are slid together.
