Do alot of you use record pause function camcorders?

I know when a lot of people make detecting videos they dont record the whole hunt, they normally record when they have a find and then turn it off until they have another one. Do you use camcorders that have a pause function while recording so that you have one continuous video when your all done or do you have to make a lot of separate videos and then make them into one video?...please let me know how you go about doing it.
