Here are two pics that I posted a few years ago but thought Id throw em up again. A good buddy of mine took these, he has a bunch of hounds that he used to hunt cats with, now the dogs tree the cat & he takes a few pics then leaves them be. He carries a side arm & has run into a few cats that stand there ground & he's had to kill a few of them to save his dogs. This cat ran until he was cornered by a dropoff, turned & fought with the dogs, my buddy popped a couple pics & was about to shoot the cat when he turned & jumped off the cliff & ran away. The dogs were a lil' beat up but survived. He estimated the cat was close to 200 lbs! Welcome to Idaho!

Yuh Know AP!! I heard this sayin a long time ago..."If you feed a dog 1 time a day, He will follow you to hell and back" ;D
HEERRREEE KITTY KITTY.........BAAMMMMM...POOWWW....Thats only way I'd even get close.....shoot first, take pics later...

Yeah my buddy is a crazy redneck! These dogs were bred to hunt big cats, thats what they do. My buddy decided a few years ago he wasnt gonna kill any more cats so now he runs his dogs & simply takes pictures of these beautiful animals then lets em be.

He Gotta Be..UH...NUTZ!!! :laughing7:
This would be neat to watch as an olympic sport...Chasin Putty... :laughing9:

I have a nephew in Utah that gets paid by the city slickers to tree or corner big cats so the macho boys can shoot them and then go home and brag about their hunting skills. Heck, the dogs do all the hunting. Same as the dogs in the pcs, they have radio collars on the dog and, when the dogs start baying, they can go right to them. Til then they just sit around the pickups drinking beer. Good to see someone realizes they don't have to kill the cat. When the shooting starts that means the hunting is already over. I have a 7-year-old grandson that can shoot good enough to kill any treed cat. It would be quite an experience to get that close and let it go though; kinda like diving with sharks. Neat pics!

Mixed feelings on hunting the cats, but those are awsome pictures! Really glad the cat got away, but wow, look at those dogs.

Great pics, AP! We got those cats down here, but I haven't seen one so far. But sometimes I get a feeling that they're watching me out in the woods.

Oh they are there Rginn, very elusive & always watching. Ive only spotted one far from town while four wheeling & I only saw him for a couple seconds before he was gone. They come into town occasionally when game gets scarce & take a few dogs or cats. I keep Boo-Boo the Wonder Lab indoors at night! :icon_thumleft:

Yep, VERY elusive. I've only seen one and it was nearly a quarter mile away running up some rocks. They like to sneak up on joggers and bicycle riders down South of me. A friend saw two at one time wrestling around at the ranch we hunt at. Then he saw the deer they had been feasting on. The cats had partially covered their kill after they ate. My buddies dogs didn't even want to be close to the deer bacause they could smell the cats.

Very neat pictures. We use dogs down here hunting hogs and like cat hunting the dogs dont always win...d2

:'( :'( :'(

It beats the hell out of me :'( why anyone would want to chase down a scare the cr@p out of a Magnificent animal such as that, with out doubt the picture is Special, it's just the chasing down of one of Gods creatures that I don't get :-\

SS

I agree SS, whole heartedly! They actually have hunting seasons for them here.........dont know of anybody that eats em, they just kill em. >:(
