double headed 50c piece

[Diggin in GA.]

My brother showed me a double headed 1964 50c piece today that he carries for luck. Is this just a novelty coin or is it a mint error that might be worth something? It looks and feels just like a regular coin except for having no reverse side.

I have a 1974 two headed penny. You can't see any tool marks or where it was put together with the naked eye or a mag glass. I had to put it under a high powered micoscope to be able to see a seam where to two halfs were joined. Hard to believe that they can be so precise making these novelty coins.
