Went back to my research civil war site and took my friend. Hunted for about ten minutes and dug this TINY pocket knife. Also got a piece of a lead bullet which I guess is civil war related. It started pouring rain just as I got an awesome deep signal, and I was worried my DFX would get ruined so we jumped in the car to wait it out. When the rain subsided we got out, and the guy who gave us permission told us that the field we were in actually belonged to his sister in law, and she didn't want us digging in it, so my awesome signal is still sitting out there undug!!! Heartbreaker!!!
He did offer us a pasture that was on his land, but that was on the wrong side of the house for civil war activity, and also had grass that was waist high. Not pretty. Since we had no other options, we waded into the tall grass. My friend quickly gave up, but I pressed on. Signals were hard to find because you couldn't get your coil to the ground, but eventually I came up with a complete musket bullet. It has no rings, so I cannot ID it. Any help? It does have a circle around the top, which I assume is due to the ramrod leaving an indention on the bullet as it was loaded. Anyone have any ideas on this?
That was all I could take, so we hit the road. We did secure permission for another period home, but it was bone dry on signals. One or more of you experts no doubt made it there first. The tiny lead cap shaped object was my only find. What the heck is that?
Anyway, It was another couple of items for the civil war display.
Thanks for reading,
