Driving through an old park that has been very good in the past, I noticed a cleared off area along the side of the road. This spot has been heavily overgrown for quite a few years. It's about 75 yards long and maybe 30 yards wide, with a stretch of woods on the other side. I had to get in there. I didn't find much to begin with, except for many pieces of beer and soda cans and bottle caps, etc. I went in to the woods a little bit following the dozer tracks and right away I popped a Barber Dime. Then I found a silver Washington Quarter along the side of the woods. Working my way back towards the road I got a sweet silver signal. The target was under a tree root, which I had to dig around. Up popped a beautiful 1858 Seated Liberty Quarter. There was another target in the hole, which turned out to be an 1876-s Quarter. First time I ever found 2 Seated Lib Quarters in the same hole. Next I dug double silver Rosie Dimes, which were barely in the ground. Then, working my way to the shadow of a tree, I dug another Barber Dime. Finally, I dug a very worn 2 Cent piece. Fantastic day. Remember, If you see a scraped off area in an old park, be sure to check it out as soon as possible.

Nice finds, and great advice. I am always looking for changes in the landscape due to construction or sometimes even natural events. As I said in my post of yesterday's find, the drought has cleared up some areas that have been heavily vegetated for a long time until recently.

You always do well with the silver!

That is outstanding! Reminds me of the late 60s and 70s.

thats awesome Bob! i see you still have it haha!

What a day!!! WTG!!!!

Those are great finds Bob.

You have some nice old sites. You are right always keep your eyes open when work is being done at a old park like that. I have came across the same situations before.
