I had to make a trip to OKC for a Dr. visit yesterday. There was a park nearby so I decided to hunt it for a little bit when I was done. Got a few older clad including some quarters, a wheaty, as well as a nice, shiny '42 Merc! That's probably the only thing I miss about living down there, the abundance of silver.
Then, on my way home I decided to hunt a park I haven't been to in a while. It's an older park, but it is PACKED with clad. That's not an exageration. Just walking a few feet into the park, there are probably 10 coins per swing. All clad, mostly pennies, but a mix of nickels, dimes and quarters as well. Anyway, I could immediately tell that nobody has been here since My last visit. I spent an hour digging a pile of coins. I tried to walk a few feet after digging several in a spot so I didn't trash the grounds. I was also focusing mainly on the highest tones and ignoring a lot of zincolns. One day I will get this place cleaned out and then maybe I can find some silver underneath!
I'll try to get a couple pics up tonight.
