Metal Detecting
The firsts just keep on rolling in for me, more than making up for a long detecting dry spell (I couldn't find anything interesting with my detector for quite a while, so bad that I thought it might be broken) but now I know it was the super dry soil.

Hiked back to my new favorite spot and continued detecting by the well:

Found my first draped bust half cent, not sure yet of the date as I haven't tried to clean the coin, super happy about that.

Also another draped bust cent under a thick pine root. I took a picture to show the root, the signal was coming from directly under it, lol. I've had good luck finding thinds under roots. This coin is not in as good of condition as the other one I found a couple days ago in the upturned root ball.

Found a toasted buffalo head nickel, a wheatie, and a silver Roosevelt dime.

For relics I found two great old buttons. One of them is large, almost 1.5 inches in diameter. The other looks like it has a design beneath the crud which I hope will become clear after I soak the button in oil. Also an old mechanical pencil, and two spoons, one of which is sterling. Thanks for looking, and best of luck to everyone!

Too Sweet - Congratulations on the awesome finds! :occasion14:

Congrats on some nice coppers and artifacts. Nice job

Great hunt. I never get tired of looking at old coppers like this, I love the DB even though I may never find one.

Congrats on the great finds!! Excellent work getting that baby out from under the root! Looks like that half cent may clean up decently.

Congrats on the draped bust coins. The half cent looks pretty good. Go slowly with any cleaning effort you may decide on.

Great 1/200 find. The one side looks great, and the other isn't bad either. I've dug a half dozen draped half cents and NONE had held up well. Congrats!!

That's a fine day in my book :occasion14:

Very nice bud. It is amazing what a bit of rain will do

Great old copper recovery! Congratualtions! :occasion14:

Be easy on the old copper cleaning process, do not wash/rinse with water some of the detail may be lost forever.

you kicked some major a$$ with those . the date may still be there--be VEWY,VEWY careful. got my 1803 DB Cent last week with large date large fraction

Great job on the Half Cent. If you cant see a clear date, then get yourself a coin book and look at the reverse of the coin. There were many different varieties minted with some differences on the reverse. That is the only way that I could tell mine was an 1804. It was the stemless wreath variety.
