I know this is another newbie post but some advice would be appreciated. I hate going into the bank with a large plastic container that weighs more than the bank teller in most occasions. I try and rotate about 5 banks in my area and most are ok but every once in awhile I get someone having a bad day. Is it just being new to the hunt and the awkwardness will go away or does everybody get this? Thanks

I try to do $1000 per bank and max $2000 if the tellers are cool with it. Some days you will get the look, just learn to live with it.

trying to turn in coins found?

The coins I find I keep. The coins I dont keep that I bring back. I try and bring coins in rotation. If I dumped half dollars today then the next time I'll take in dimes.

50cent's guide to dumping etiquette

  • Make proper eye contact with tellas
  • Use the words please and thank you
  • Wear nice clothes ($800+ range)
  • NEVER REROLL USING THE WRAPPERS FROM THE BOX
  • Keep it under 2K per Bank/CU
  • If they give you trouble explain the situation
  • IF explaining the situation fails, threaten to close your account
  • you can get alot further with a roll of ikes and a kind word than jus a kind word
  • You are the customer, not them
  • If there is a coin machine you can exceed the $2000 daily dump, or if they accept bags keep the dump under $10K
  • If you dump more than $20K a month at a bank/CU, get them a little somethin somethin
  • pretend you are wealthy, so they value you as a customer
  • If you have a loan with particular banking insitution pay for it with dumps
  • dont take the employee of the month spot
  • park exactly, you can't park incorrectly, if you pull into a parking spot wrong do it over again, this will give you some serious rep+respect
  • walk straight into the bank, hold the halves correctly, if you can't get a nice looking box
  • The container you put your coins in also matters for dumps and for bags, make sure you look like a professional and you have your act together so they won't even think of criticizing your dump'n habits
  • If they ask why, tell them you own a vending machine business or just say you look through them
  • Never mention silver
  • Don't bring them in the $500 half boxes, especially if they are different (brinks one day garda da next big mistake yo)
  • don't bring a gun
  • Say good bye when you leave, if they say have a nice day tell them you 'precciate it, and say you to.
  • always call them by their name after you learn it FROM THEM
  • remember all of the above and keep it in mind like your life depends on it.
  • ALWAYS REMEMBER DUMPING IS FOR BUSINESS AND NOT FOR PLEASURE. If you act like this is some sort of game the tellers won't ever take you seriously

Wow, pretty solid 50

Listen to what 50 has to say. If you have small hands a roll of nickels works.

See thats what im talking about. I always take up two spots (making sure the employee of the months spot is one of them) when I park and I usally make sure they can see my pistol on my hip and I'll stop asking "B*tch where my silver at?" They rarely make eye contact because they are watchin my hip but they always can tell im 'bout my business. Thanks again. It will help

It's been alright my man, but I'm at a point where I'm needing to take breaks. Hunt for two weeks, take two weeks off. Still doing some pretty decent volume. I'm breaking even at least, and its still plenty of fun. how about you, mister BRChiver?

Sounds like you're doing everything right. However, the awkwardness will never go away. It never did for me, anyway.

I just like participating in a hobby where 'dumping ettiquette' is a perfectly normal and acceptable thread header....

Yeah thats pretty awesome. I like the fact that people here dont think you're crazy when you talk about dumping. My wife still is having a hard time my enthusiasm over my new hobby and looks at me crazy sometimes.

Only your wife looks at you crazy? I get 30 crazy looks every time I walk into a bank! lol

But when I've got 87oz ~$1,800 in silver in less than 4 months, I just smile back and keep walking :) haha

I always chat up the tellers, and that seems to make the awkwardness go away. The conversation makes the uneasiness of the fact you're bringing in thousands of coins less noticeable, and helps create familiarity with the employees. Once you become a "regular" the coin becomes just another transaction. I deal with about 6 locations, and limit my dumps to about 1K per. The tellers know me by name, and I've never had a negative response to my presence, to which I credit my movie star good-looks. 8-)

Or maybe it's the cupcakes and other treats throughout the year.

Yeah, it's the treats. :tongue3:

I bring my brownies tellers every so often haha, they're always happy to see me hoping their the lucky bank that week lol. Gonna bring them all a special Halloween treat this week :)

Well, in true newbie fashion I would have to ask, what happens to the coins after you dump them? Do they go to the Feds? I ordered a box from my credit union and it was all the same coins I had dumped at a local bank which makes me think that bought a bag and rolled them. The coins came $250 in a quarter box turned inside out. Most of the time they are taped in A yellow box stacked 5×5 two high. They told me that I had to buy them $1000 at a time so I guess they get them that way.
