Hi folks ,
I found this button today, still has some nice gold gilt on it. I can’t make out anything on the back. Does anyone know an approx age and if it’s military?

Thanks.

Looks like an 1840s-50s US Navy cuff button. Nice find,

Getting a bit more specific on Fyrffytr1's correct ID... your brass 2-piece button is the cuff-size or kepi-strap size version of US Navy button NA-106A in the Albert book on American uniform buttons. The 2-piece brass version dates from the mid-1830s to 1852, when the emblem got changed somewhat.

Nice button. Was it from a battlefield?

Thanks for the great info on the button. I found it in a farm field in a historic area. I’m not aware of any actual battles that took place there
