ear problem

I have an excel ll with a waterproof Gray Ghost headset that I have used for about a year and suddenly seem to be getting burn/cuts on the edge of my ears. I can't find any sharp edge or worn spots on the earpieces but can feel tingling when I pass over a metal object and the detector makes noise. Has anyone had this problem? Any quick fixes? The sore spots on my ears don't bleed but get thick brown scabs.

I found out that altho rare there is a short in the headset causing the electrical burns on my ears. Gray Ghost will repair under warranty.
