Have been zeroing in on an early frontier blockhouse location and feel may be on to it finally. Have found numerous round balls in area as well as copper equipment rivets and a bunch of iron artifacts. Today found this gun butt plate and this other piece. Any ideas? It's extremely heavy and was covered in green, thought was brass but has cleaned up some, maybe bronze???

You have a rifle buttplate and as I said on your other thread, I believe the other chunk is part of a clamp and there were originally 2 "ears with holes in them but one has been broken off. If you flip it over like in your other pictures you can see the jagged edge where it's missing a piece. Maybe a universal joint cap like this one for a Corvette driveshaft or part of a cable clamp like I suggested in the other thread. It is common for them to break in half.
