Got out today and hit a few sites with my diggin buddies. Started a little slow but the last site produced something for all of us. Found some flat buttons, some other relics and I dug my first lead pencil. Really cool little piece to me. Makes you wonder who used it, when and what all he wrote. Just a neat, personal relic to find. Finished the day off with a nice early Navy button, not sure exactly the era it's from but I'm guessing War of 1812, but again not sure. Any input will, as always, be greatly appreciated! Thanks for looking!

Nice work as usual Darby, love seeing those 1812 buttons coming out of that soil...condition is incredible.
Thanks Jon. Been awhile since I've dug one. Sure was nice to see it flip out the dirt! Very shallow too, just an inch or two. Thought it was modern trash at first!
Thanks Casper!

Thanks Relic Nut. The lead pencil was my favorite for the day! The button was a very close second!
Very nice finds congrats

Thanks trapperart. Appreciate your comments.

Yup, another awesome military button for sure, but i'm thinking that pencil was the find of the day. The stories it could tell. That button looks a bit different than the other navy you found

Thanks Joseph! Yea I think the pencil is really cool too. The navy button was a nice surprise. Been awhile since I've dug a military. It is different from my other early navy button. Would like to get specific info on it. One of these days I'll break down and buy a button book!
