Tell your son great job on finding that coin! It sure is old and a beauty! Otherwise I have no information about the coin.

Tim nice coin! The trading co. traded mostly in China and halled mostly dishes and pottery.

Thanks Jim. I'll do a little research.

The Indians are crazy for old Indian coins.. I just sold some recently I picked up there, years ago..Check eBay. The coin is in excellent condition, btw.

Terry, I should also tell you they also traded in Africa and India and other places. They were started in Dec of 1600. They also traded in tea and opium. They had a joint co. called the Dutch East India Trading Co. It was the Dutch who traded mostly in dishes. My grandmother had a set of dishes from the 1700'' from them.

Funny thing is, if I recall correctly, the East India Company was the name of a company used in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean
