East Tennessee Newbie

Many years ago I had a very old detector. I said something to my wife about a few months ago that I think it would be fun to have one to explore our property, which is close to an old fort site, and I never said anything else about it. Well yesterday (Christmas) she surprised me with a Minelab Vanquish 540. (I have a GREAT wife..) So, here I am.

Although my brother (Living about 10 hours from me.) has been into metal detecting and prospecting for years I know I have LOTS to learn.
