I am very new at this, and still have trouble determining worked stones vs natural. I have found several that have similarities to other effigies I have seen online, but could very well just be my eyes tricking me to see what I want them to see. All were found in the same creek bed in Eastern MO. Any help is very much appreciated.

Owl? Very small, but there are small circular marks at the eyes, esp the right.

Sorry to say but those look natural to me.

Keep looking!

Sorry, those are not effigies. They are natural rocks that have not been worked or altered by man. You will see many like those represented as effigies on the internet, but if you want to see a true effigy there are many books by respected authorities on that subject. I'm sure someone on this forum will direct you to some. The journals of the Central States Archaeology Society have some excellent articles and pictures of anything relating to native Americans you could think of including effigies.

Welcome to Treasurenet….. Sorry they are all not effigies, just natural rocks. Your not going to have to use your imagination to see a real effigy.

Thanks for the info. I’ll do some reading and continue the hunt!
