Temporarily laid off, 2 feet of snow on the ground, all my interior house maintenance is done, and I'm bored as hell.
Please post some pics of really cool artifacts......Effigies or anything unusual.

Here's a few Effigies and oddities I have found.

The first two pictures are of a Pipe with a mouth engraved in it. I'm not 100% sure what it represents since there are no other markings on it, but some theories I have heard is a Fish, a Salamander, or a Baby Bird waiting to be fed.

The 3rd picture is pretty obvious what it represents. It is a Phallic Effigy.

The 4th picture I have always thought represented a Lizard or a Turtle.

The last two look like a little Man Effigy to me.

SRV, you come thru again. Thanks.

That discodial is very unusual. Very nice find.
What is the horn shaped thing with the hole? Pipe?
SRV, your exotic form does look like a man effigy. Very cool.

Posted this "head" a couple of years ago on here asking anyone for information on it or if anyone has seen anything like it. Was found by my family in the mid-70's in a creek in our backyard in the Oak Ridge, Tn area. Lifesize to a normal head. Appears to be made of 'grog' and not stone. These pics don't do it justice. I'll take some better ones in better lighting in the near future.

Is there some distinction between effigies and talisman? I know of effigy mounds, and effigy pipes and bowls, what about curated stones that were carried as talisman? What do they look like, any examples?

I had thought these were effigies, but they are cool all the same. I think so anyway. Just a collector of pretty rocks though.

All of these artifact found east of the Rockies?
