When hunters killed elephants long ago they gave the carcass to villages.
The bone of an elephant skull is eight inches thick in the front. There was a hunter who hunted elephants with a 7.65 Mauser. Most of the hunters used guns like the .475 falling block elephant guns. There is a very small area behind the ear where the bone is thinner.
