Emeralds bought through the Mail: Have you?

Am I the only wishful thinker who has purchased bags of rough emeralds through the mail and attempted to exact a Nice gem stone or two out of the matrix?

I got some for $20 once. It's still sitting around somewhere. I never got around to checking it out too thoroughly.

I've done it a couple of times. And yes you can find stones worth cutting. What I did was put them in a tumbler to knock off the matrix they were in. I was just going to tumble them for an aquarium. Anyways I was changing grits one day in a batch I had going and found a dark rock, or atleast I thought it was. It sat on my bench for a week atleast b4 one of my kids picked it up and asked me what this green rock was. They were holding it up and there was a lamp behind them and that's when I disovered it was really a dark green emerald! And a nice one at that! I will try to get some pics up of it and a couple of others I found. So yes! Give it a shot!
