Engine question for a 6 inch.

Would two honda 5.5 hp engines with proline 350 pumps be capable of running a 6 inch dredge down to about 3 ft and still have plenty of suction?

I know the factory one uses two 9 hp Hondas but a group of us are looking to build a 6 inch and we already have two 5.5 hp engines available from other equipment.

With no more than a 15ft hose you will be fine. You can run HP400's on the 5.5's fine also.

I'm basically trying to more or less copy how prolines 6 inch works, just with smaller engines since that's what I have available.

Also will the two 5.5 hp engines and hp350 pumps provide enough water flow to use a 22" by 72" sluice box.

Barely... Your looking at 700gpm instead of 1000gpm there's no comparrison. I wouldn't go smaller than hp400's.

Get it on as have run smaller,newer keene pumps put out more gpm making them much more viable than older units. In shallow water I've easily even run dual 5s BUT like I asked-jet configuration,single or dual inductor is MOST important,style, kind and mfg most important as all components give OR take away from the whole-John
