Hi folks. Great day out today. I live near to a historical town with river which was well used in its heyday. It is the site of a Civil war battle and the River is near to the town castle. Normally you cannot get access to the river foreshore as it is generally covered in metres of mud. Only after lots of rainfall It opens up. Today thought I'd have a go. I've found the odd Roman coin in the past here. I was surprised to find the cannonballs which were in a patch 4 metre square. About 6 inch in gravel/ black clay. Hard digging. They are as found in photo. Some clinkering seen. They weigh nearly 1 kg each. I will report these finds. I also found some early lead weights musket balls and modern coins. Lots of scrap lead and copper. Thanks for looking and any input on the finds is appreciated. I have never found cannon balls before.

Nice saves there! They will clean up nice. Are those solid shot or filled with explosives?
