My Nox 800 is just a few days out of warranty and only has about 20 hours of use on it. WHY you ask. The first day of use I went into the water waist deep and it immediately swamped as did my friends Nox also. Off to the detector center and a few weeks later I received a new control pod. Put it together and it worked fine on my testing area. Never took it in water again and basically sidelined it because I had five other detectors.
Now a planned hunt in Hawaii and it won’t turn at all. No nothing. Battery fully charged, solid green light. Totally dead and so is my hunt.
Called the detector center and talked to Dan, a great guy by the way. Dan said that Minelab won’t send them any more pods even though the pod itself is only a year old but the machine is 3 years old.
Called Minelab and they won’t help at all even though I own 5 Minelab machines, mostly Excaliburs.
An experienced detectorist told me that it’s a “catastrophic electrical failure “ which he has seen before. Needs a new pod which Minelab refuses to replace.
Sad that companies like Whites is gone. If I had a problem with any of my Whites detractors back then a complete new one would be on the way. Very sorry I bought a Nox. Just an $800 lemon with no backup from the company. They just don’t care.

You should try a DEUS II, MOE has always been very helpful every time I’ve had a problem, out of warranty coil ? He sold me a second hand one for cheap… the guy takes care of his peeps !!
Good luck 🍀

I have a Minelab Sovereign that had one of the Tornado coils with defective cable. The cable jacket on the coil disintegrated over time. It was an error in their manufacturing process where they purchased a bad batch of cable that started to fail sometime after warranty. They told all their customers that had the defective cables to go pound sand. I won't buy Minelab products ever again because of that.

I would buy a Minelab tomorrow if I needed new detector, but my Nox 800, 4 excals each with different size coils, and 3030 are still running fine.

For the record, I have two 800s.

Based on the facts you have shared, here are my thoughts:

First, the problems seem to start after the machine was flooded and they know this has been a widespread issue.

Second, You have a proven track record of being a loyal customer based on the number of units you own.

Third, It sounds like minelab has no interest in trying to resolve the issue. (Maybe because they didn't perform the original repair based on what you description).

I would let them know they are loosing you as a customer and will discourage others to avoid their products in the future. They make a great detector but there are other top quality machines out there so you will be just fine switching brands. When you make a big purchase, not only is the initial product quality considered but customer service/backing of their product are equally as important in determining value.
