But it looks like a raised "blob", not a worn area. Plus the areas directly adjacent to the "blob" look like they didnt' take the strike. Just my "2 cents" worth.

My guess is counterfeit. Crude lettering, botched designs, wonky-looking edge.

There is a chance this was in a fire, then maybe tumbled to clean it up. That would possibly explain any raised areas (bubbling).
