Error?

I found this coin at the bottom at a box of coins that I found. I looked it up in my book and on NGC website and the only version I could find was in silver. It looks more like copper or bronze. Any ideas?

Many foreign "Silver" coins have a lower percentage of Silver in them than ours do. Interestingly you coin was only made for 2 years. http://colnect.com/en/coins/list/co...lver/currency/1003-c_-_Chilean_centavo/page/3 I'm finding 40% listed as the composition and if the rest is primarily Copper this would account for the color.
