Fall Cleaning my house and found these items from an estate sale we went to some years back. There are other items, when I locate them, will post here.
I love the tatting needle, home made!!!!
Along with the ivory looking crochet needles were 4 steel/metal ones, appears to be more recent (like 50's or so).
The photo is the one that was in the frame I wanted. I will post a pic of the frame later. No writing on the back, other than "Dup 20306 6 B&W Joe"...so I am wondering if this person is the one that is mentioned on the tatting needle. And if "Joe" on the back is for J.L. Stone(Stove)...I believe it to be STONE, common name in this area in the early days. So, J.L. Stone is Joe L. Stone. Will have to do some research on this. The tatting needle says he married Silvia ?. ----?. Can't make out her last name...will take time to decifer it.
We bid on this one box, as I wanted the picture frame and we received all these wonderful goodies within the box.
So, be careful when getting rid of Mom's sewing items...as this tatting needle indicates marriage to him, year of birth and year of death.....pretty cool for us genealogist
Anyways, when I get the other items scanned, I will post them here, as I said.
The first photo is a jewelry box. I took a trip to downtown Norfolk and found it, still in it's location back in 1932!! They thought it was cool!! These are the items, minus the 4 steel/metal crochet hooks and a very cheap thimble, that were in the box. (very weak, not a strong metal).
The third photo is each side of the tatting needle.
The fourth photo is the picture that was in the picture frame.
Thanks for looking,
Annmarie
