I've been hunting a cow pasture just a few hundred yards from where I live after the first cut of grass. I found a really old coin but can't read anything on it yet - I hope it will get better over time. It's a copper coin and I soaked it in Petroleum. We'll see and I will let ya know. Besides a 1 Reichspfennig 187??? (in cleaning) I found a 1 Mark 1978. This is not a very rare coin but actually my very first 1 Mark Bundesrepublik Deutschland and my second coin issued by the Bundesrepublik Deutschland. I do find much more coins from 1870ies and 1920ies than the ones we used before the Euro came. This is strange. Maybe we had better purses in the 1970ies and 1980ies than our folks before. What I find especially interesting is that the German Mark used to be bright silver in color and now after how many years soever burried in the field the Mark appears dark red which is the result of the high copper contens. I will definitly not try to make her silver and shiny again. I'm happy she found her way to me and will not mess with her even though she is 14 years younger than me.
