Ever find an old coin somewhere you didnt expect?

Iv found an 1828 half penny in the middle of a park in capecod, a 1955 caribean coin in the woods. also a 1912 wheat cent on a path. All of these places i didnt expect to find anything old because they were likely to be hunted or new.

yeah i actually found an 1850 large cent smack dab in the middle of a high school soccer field. it was about the last thing in the world i was expecting to find there. this wasn't a new school either it was built in the early 60s so I'm sure it has been hunted over and over again. incidentally i didn't find any silver from the early 60s! go figure.

Nope, I hunt mainly very old sites so I expect oldies.

The thing that has surprised me is to find new coins in old ghost towns, etc.

I too find modern coins in abandoned places, my guess urban explorers and such.
