Just wondering if anyone has ever been out hunting for artifacts (for hours & hours) & had another hunter (who you don't know) shows up & you talk to him for a little & then he asks have you searched a certain part of an area that you haven't got to yet & goes there & then after about 15 min he finds a point!? >:( (that would've been your first point of the year had you found it!!! ) He was a nice guy but AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!! >:(

Oh that's just tacky! That's like cutting in front of the line.

Yes I have had another hunter show up and cut right in front of me and found one. That was enough for me to get away from him. That is how it goes sometimes.Good luck next time

It's a shame, but not everyone has good hunting ethics. This has happened me on more occasions than I'd like to remember. Hunting pressure has a lot to do with it, everyone has to be the first one there.

It's getting to where you can't get out and hunt anymore without seeing other people. I've noticed so many in some places that they look like sharecroppers out there poking at the ground.

This reminds me of something I done to screw with some people when there were a ton hunting a particular spot. I took a pair of rubber boots and carved arrowheads into the bottom of them (Gary on one, corner notch on another, etc). It was a VERY muddy spot and everywhere I walked, it left "arrowheads" all over the place, lol.

You have to stay close to them when they invaid you like that. When they go to bend over to pick up the point, Thunck em in the head with your stick ;D ;D When they come around ??? ??? Tell them" you bent over to pick something up, and you fainted, hitting your head on that hammer stone" Make sure you throw a flint chip down where you pick the point up. Thats all there is to it. Got it? :tongue3:

:laughing7: LOL! Thanks 4 all the comments they gave me a laugh! & to know that I'm not the only one this has happened to! :)

I'll just keep looking!

I've had that happen on more then one occasion and I even had my own brother do it to me one time. I was hunting the banks of the Ohio River in a spot we usually do very well at and I had been there about an hour when my brother showed up. There is one spot that produces more that the rest of the beach and I was working my way there. My brother showed up when he saw my vehicle setting by the road and when he came down over the bank he walked right to the best spot before I could get there and picked a perfect Stemmed Lancelot Point right at the waters edge laying completely exposed. I was really ticked at him and he knew it. He even offered to give me the point and I almost took it, but he found it so it was his. I still give him Hell all the time about it though.

I had another guy step right in front of me one time in a field and pick up a decent point and I let him have it. I cussed him up one side and down the other and told him that you just don't do that. You can't just walk right in front of someone and pick up a point out of the row they were walking. That is so not cool. After that he stayed clear of my path and went off and hunted another part of the field. I kind of felt bad about ripping his ass so strongly, but maybe he got the message and never did it again.

Had a guy come walking into a field the other day saying he had permission, well the owner lives right there and was just talking to me, saying i was the only one to be looking, we put a foot up his a s s...due to his arrogance...

Many times...

I took a guy to hunt a site with me once, and while I was parking the car he started walking out to the site and found this point. He didn't really collect stone relics, and really stuck it to me on selling me this piece. Now he goes to the site after almost every rain or dust storm (in a desert, so not but two or three times a year) and tries to sell me the material that he picks up off my site. I eventually had to just stop buying from him and he eventually stopped going.

Me and my Brother were bass fishing one time and were by a sandy beach. I thought it looked like a point on the beach and pointed it out to him. We both went to the front of the boat or nose as I trolled closer. We saw it was a nice one. I jumped out of the boat to get it and my brother leaped from the boat tackling me to the ground. I grabbed his legs and pulled him down and crawled over him reaching out and getting it. We were laughing like kids the whole time. One of the finest flaked points I have ever found. hehe.

On the rivers when there is pressure we think nothing of leap frogging another hunter giving them some hunting room by moving in front of them and then they do the same all the way down the river. Part of the game as you can't claim it all as your own.
Never fails take a newbie or guest and they find all the good stuff or as I like to look at it the finds you are sharing.
