Experience with White's Classic5ID Pro?

Any one had any experience with the new White's Classic 5 ID Pro? Any and all comments (good or bad) are welcome. I haven't known anyone who has one of these machines, so I don't have a reference point. I am thinking about purchasing
one of these unless there have been problems reported.

Thanks for any info.

I have a 5900 DX Pro never had a problem with it. I would recommend you take it to a local MD shop and have them check it out. or you can do it yourself with different coins and things to see it reads correctly etc

Re: Experience with White's Classic5ID Pro?

I bought a 5 ID as my first machine. It was OK. Easy to use and pinpoint. It was a good coin shooter. I also found some Civil War relics with it. But I soon figured out that the target ID was not all that reliable - I dug a lot of junk. Digging junk is part of the MD learning process, I guess. It is not very adjustable or adaptable to various hunting spots, either. Long story short - if I had it to do over again, I would _NOT_ have purchased a 5 ID - at least not a NEW one.

Some months later I bought a used Minelab Musketeer. It has manual GB and no target ID screen - just tones. After getting some tips from other Musketeer owners, I learned to hear the good targets. I'm much happier with my Minelab. I did so well with it that my MDing buddy had to upgrade his machine (he's a Tesoro guy).

So... my advice is to buy a less expensive machine than a NEW Whites 5ID (or get a used machine). See if you have fun with it, then upgrade in a year or so.
