I'm a high school Spanish teacher so fall break = me going crazy getting my detecting fix. Had a great week. Found my first Civil War cannonball, a 24 pounder that, according to all the research I have done on the guns used in the battle, should be from a union cannon. It was about 1 1/2 - 2 feet down. Also got two silvers, couple of V nickels 1891 & 1902, Buffalo nickel 1917, and my first pulled bullet, a 3 ringer. Overall, a fantastic fall break!

HH to all,

Jared

Congrats on a nice 24pder. Those are never fun trying to get back to the car. Look forward to seeing if you find anything else from there :occasion14:

Congrats on the great start to your fall break!

Great finds !

Nice stuff! Does the barber dime have a mint mark?

No, sure doesn't. It's the 4th barber dime I have found and so far I am 0 for 4 in the mint marks.

That's because of where you live. The Philly mint doesn't use a mint mark and you are much closer to it than any other mint. I'm sure you will find O and D mints eventually, because coins travel, but expect most of them to be from philly.

Wow! Great Job On The cannonball! The Coins Are Great Too! :icon_thumright: What part of TN are you from? We Are Just Outside Of Murfreesboro.

We are living in Clarksville right now. I was working down in Chattanooga last year. I grew up just north of Chatt. in Bledsoe County.

There are a lot of Old farms in Clarksville and in the Fort Campbell area. Good luck to you on your next hunts.

Thanks. Yes, the history up here is really interesting. Haven't had a lot of time to hunt this area yet though. I did find a bayonet scabbard tip behind an 1850's home though. The cannonball came from SE Missouri.
