Farm field piece off of Valley Pike. Old tool or cival war?

Is it the size of a bullet or several inches long like a furniture final? Good luck.
 

it is 3 inches long. HEAVY and solid
 

It's a digging tooth from a trenching machine. Check and you will find a carbide insert at the tip. The spring steel clip at the bottom is meant to hold it in place. My trencher uses a C-clip on the teeth, but they still fall off sometimes. They are worth about $10 new.
