Found some interesting colonial era iron today - think these are files, found both in the same hole. Found the key first and the lock about a foot away. Couple of 58's also. Still awaiting to find some silver!

Those "files" may be wood chisels..... they sorta have the look

I don't believe these are knives or chisles - they are 12" one side is flat, other side is slightly rounded. I'm guessing maybe horse hoof rasps - too corroded to feel and teeth on them, but definitely hand wrought iron. The area where I found them might be the site of the blacksmith forge that was on the property back in 1790's
