been crh. at the thrift store. and some water hunting
lately. i may not be the best treasure finder but i do
pride myself on being versatile and switching gears
quick when called for.
today i was on my way to my favorite park
that usually only produces sad clad.
when i saw a garage sale sign.
pulled in and talked to the guy an mentioned
about detecting.
turns out he has an old family cemetary out back
that had graves dating back to the 1850s.
so he gave permission for me to sniff around back there.
it was very hot today and i had planned on camping
out under the trees at my park.
BUT when opportunity knocks i try to be ready.
so insteada putting it off til cooler day.
i grab my machine and say im ready now.
cause things can change quick.
very excited start off. after about half hour w few hits.
wondering why no goodies.
well PERSISTANCE PAYS. keep going.
finaLLY after about an hour sweating profusely
i manage to find the dog tax 1920 mason county #534.
thats local here. well at least its old 90 yrs old.
and i just love finding ANYTHING with writing on it
and even better if it has a date.
polishing off the last swallows of my now warm diet pepsi
and go some more.
surely some old coins will come.
nope some real zinger hits but all were trash icludiing
a number of old mason jar lids.
finally got another relix the bigger metal sign/ token ?
reads EDWARD H NIEDERER FUNERAL DIRECTOR
HAVANA - EASTON ILL. so cool again a local relic.
looks real old .made of white metal.
2 coins finally were found but r not pictured
because modern clad dime and mem penny.
only other keepers were 2 bullets a musket ball
and a snap thing which i have an immediate use for.
the nice landowner came to see what i found at the
end. turns out he has a valuable lost gold ring on his
prop in a diff area. plus 2 abandoned houses i can hunt
YAHOO.
and silver coins collection of over 100 dollars face
that he may want to sell me.
he seemed almost too friendly.
i guess lonesome and or bored.
as i passed each gravestone with some mid 1800s death
date i kept feeling sure a coin of that era would soon
appear. but nope not that ez.
wonder where they were.he sez no one ever hunted there
as far as he knows.
oh well not much today but could lead to a lot more
hh all stay cool. S.......
