Another great day on the Field :headbang: I spent 5.5 hours hunting whilst Dad did 3 careful hours whilst nursing his knee again :P

Managed 53 Roman Bronze Coins
1 Broken Silver of Sep Sev AD201 :( (in 4 trips to this field, I've had 1 Celtic Silver & 3 Roman Silver) 8)
Tudor Book Clasp
Nice Train Button
Tinned 'flower' stud (17th C?)

Dad got the star find - Hammered:

http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/ukdfddata/showrecords.php?product=1320&cat=all
Henry VIII
Sovereign type Penny
1526-29
Durham ecclesiastical mint, Bishop Thomas Wolsey

First one of this type we have had & only 1 recorded on the UKDFD, so must be fairly scarce

Dad just informed me that this Roman Silver is now our 100th GPSed example

(NB. not our 100th ever, as we only got a GPS a few years back)

I do, I do !! Looks like a great day, maybe Crudad needs a dedicated digger ? I think its "penny" envy lol . LOve the train button and the bird.. is that bird an Egyptian revival piece ?

Keep in mind, at least for myself, it is harder to comment on stuff that for the most part I know nothing about.

I enjoy seeing this type stuff, particularly the Silvers, and the unusuals. like wax seals etc.
My coin books only go back to 1700, and so far that has covered my finds.
I really liked the locking buckle that hammered posted recently, and commented on it.

50 old romans, wow, I had my best day the other day, got 10 old coins. Old being a relative term EH, they were late 1700's early 1800's Hoping for mybe one 1600's coin this year.

.. really nice catch :) congr

Welcome to Tnet :hello:

I think, you didn't give quite enough time, & I'm sure that most have pretty much run out of comments :laughing7:

Don't worry, I will keep posting, & try to out do ourselves, but we have pretty much done as well as we could this year, it's going to be another great year but most likely another gold-coin-less one :tongue3:

I love it! I can't get enough of it actually.

Even if you don't find roman finds in your backyard as crusader  its interesting, to see what the ground is hiding, and I'm learning for free :read2:
''No, Crue i will not buy a book'' hehe.. Either way, i enjoy your posts, keep them coming!

Stunning group of finds.....I like how casual the ancient coins just flow through your little red carpet.

I confess. My envy is greener than the patina on your Roman bronzes.

Thanks for sharing ... again ... Crusader!

Nice one Cru'Dad . I haven't had a Henry 8 yet, all around him, but not on the spot yet. I hope the knee gets better soon, I'm having trouble with mine too, old rugby injury :laughing7:

???????? I don't guess I understand the meaning of that statement. I for one, am fascinated at the ancient finds made in England and the European countries. I would love to dig some ancient Roman coins. Many years ago, my uncle was stationed in England with the USAF and detected in his spare time. As a kid, holding his Roman coins in my hand inspired me to get into the hobby. Please keep digging those great finds and posting them for us to enjoy.

I have to agree with you, I know there can be a bit of misunderstanding, sometimes, but in general you US guys and gals are completely there for us. We, on the other hand, typically, don't understand the differences in certain American coins and why a "d" or an "s" is so special, or a corroded large cent. It depends on where you live and what you dig, thanks for your support guys

I like how you and Dad keep plugging away together at the fields despite painful knee or cement-hard dirt. Especially like Dad's good silver and the train button. Andi
