Found this guy in the ground. Very heavy for size so maybe iron? Curious if anyone knows: (1) What it is? (2) How old? Thanks.

I don't know what it is, but it looks interesting. Do you know any history about the area where you found it? That could give some clues.

Does not look like lead. I am going to go with the OP's assessment of iron. It should stick to a magnet if it is. I have a very old iron trolley and a figurine also. No idea when they made them out of iron although I was told it was before they were made out of lead.

If iron, may have been part of a old cast iron bank or something like that.

Lead would be smooth... that's iron or something else.

The head is too large to be a lead soldier, as they were realistic in proportions. I like SD's idea of a cast iron figure... looks plausible.

What did it ring up as? Does a magnet stick to it?

I was thinking maybe "The Headless Horsemen of "Sleepy Hallow. But, I guess not. (given the season). ;)

Interesting though. Is it magnetic? :dontknow:

Reminds me of a Black Americana iron figurine. It may have sat on a base at one time.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark at this.
It reminds me of part of a cast iron doorstop that were used to keep doors open to allow for a breeze to pass through your home. They were very popular in the 1930's & 40's and earlier.
