It's the Distinguished Flying Cross. It's the highest medal you can get while flying an airplane. I am doing research to see if I can identify who might have received it. H Digs

It's a 1942 war nickel (40% silver) H Digs

WOW! Strange how someone can lose something like that. Good luck with the research!

It is more than likely from WWII and the person who earned it probably didn't lose it, a child or grandchild most likely lost it. Nice finds, the ring looks interesting but can't see the design too well.
