All Treasure Hunting
Like most, I've dug pounds of nails and iron junk in the pursuit of more significant finds.
I revisited a local park which has gifted me my first and only Morgan dollar, Barber and Mercury dimes, many toy cars and copious clad.
Experimenting with the new update for the Equinox , this came out of the same hole as a clad quarter.
I knew it wasn't a typical square nail and consulted Google.
I believe that it is a hand wrought rose head nail ca. 1700's.
If there are any nail experts, I'd appreciate your opinion.

Nice!!! I like finding those old square nails! Congrats!!!

Looks hand made to me. I knew a smith who was commissioned to make several thousand nails at $0.5 a piece for a period correct renovation. He got so he could make them in 4 blows.

Finding old nails is better than finding beer tabs. Here is my old nail collection, and RR nails

That’s called a rose head nail. It was hand wrought and could easily be 18th century or earlier.

Yes, that's an old one for sure, congrats! :occasion14:

Thanks to all for the confirmation.
I guess I'll be heading back to hunt for contemporaneous coins.
