Back out today to a spot that had given a few silvers, a merc here, a rosie there, even a Washington. Well, persistence pays off. While detecting a shallow trash target, I kept getting what sounded like a better signal very close. The etrac sometimes will "pull" toward the closer target when pinpointing and I said well I will just dig the shallow trash and then see what's what. After removing the canslaw at 2 inches I rescanned the nearby target and boom!! 1944 Walking Liberty Half dollar. She's purrty and my first silver half. Added a 52 rosie too boot and the usual assortment of wheats.

Remember. Victory loves preparation so keep at it people!

Happy hunting!

Beautiful!!! Congrats and nice work!

Big Silver gets you a Big-O-Congrats. My first big silver was a 1944 Walking Liberty also. Once again congrats to you.

Great job! 🙌

Finding a beauty like that next to junk is awesome- way to sniff out the keeper!

Sweet find. Congrats!

Congrats, great coin right there! One of my favorite parts of detecting is you never know till you dig it up, or even till you get home and clean it up, and also until you get on the internet and look it up.

Walking Liberty is one of the nicest coins ever made. Congratulations on finding your first!

Yes,you have proven persistence pays dividends. With a nice half dollar found among trash.

Great job on the Walker half! :occasion14:

Congrats on the BIG silver. So cool to see a big silver coining the dirt, kind of shocks you.

Well done.

purrty is correct. when it finally sinks in that you found your first big silver and its a Walker, it is what they call a very good feeling. congrats!
