Finally found a SLQ - first hunt in 2 months yields silver goodies & Susan B Anthony

Hi friends. I've been going through some big life changes that has cut into my metal detecting and overall free time. It's weird. As soon as I get into this hobby things happen that pulls me away - and don't get me wrong, these are all wonderful things that are happening in my life it's just eating up any chance of having to dig holes on a regular basis

To make a long story long, I finally got out for few hours this past weekend and was able to go hunt seriously and found some goodies

First good find was this Mc Grath-Hamin of Providence, RI. kid's ring - 10k rolled gold costume - no clue if the stone is real - rang up as on notch above nickel on the 350, but was a strong hit that didn't bounce

Next up, same location found this 1979 Susan B Anthony - not bad for clad and I guess you dig see too often?

I loved these as a kid and was stoked to find one

Sunday was also good as I found my first SLQ but it's in rough shape and dateless, also found was a rolled love penny token, a kids ring made in Hong Kong that I thought was gold / solid pull tab - no bounce - trickery lol and a tiny 925 earring back missing the stone. Also stated as EC 925

Anyone know what the EC stamp means?

Hope you all have had a wonderful holiday season and have more free time than I do. Thanks for checking me out and digging my digs :icon_thumright:

Good stuff! [emoji106]

First off, glad to hear your life changes are for the good! Second, congrats on getting back out and getting some fresh air and doing something fun. Third, any SLQ is a good find in my book and the "no date" are the most common. I always liked those SBA dollars too and keep all I come across. The rings may be "junkers" but I still get a kick out of digging them. Happy New Year and Happy Hunting!

Congrats on making the time to enjoy your passion (detecting). You pulled 2 bucket listers of mine, I know this may sound cheezy, but I have not founs a Susan B. coin yet. plenaty of other dollar coins, but not a susan B. The SLQ is another one on my list.

Nice digs, I love finding rings! Congrats!

If you think your comment is cheezy, I must be a huge vat of cheezy because everything I haven't found is on my bucket list, no matter how useless, worthless or foolish. The snow/sleet has finally come here, I hope you can escape for a few more days!

Nice mix of finds.

Thank you! Happy new year to you as well. I had just dug 2 clad quarters and figured the SLQ was another one, boy was I surprised.

The jewel green with the pink stone was my last target of the night. I thought it was some kind of fob or cuff link at first because it was squished together. Man I was stocked until i got it all cleaned up.

The little kids ring is neat. It's probably 60 years old

Thank you LD. I keep moving down in dates on my coins so I hope I'll find some 1800s stuff next year. And yeah everything that I haven't found is also my bucket list too ha ha

It is easy falling into the trap of having to find silver, gold or jewelry worth $$$ to consider a hunt "good". I like finding these older kids rings. Just think, if you are right about the age of the ring, that puts it into the '50's, which for me puts my father in Puerto Rico as an MP during the Korean War. The kid wearing it was probably born in the '40's which puts us into WWII territory. I think it's kinda cool to connect these things to something in our life or a major event, even if not really "old" they still have history.

Nice job on the Standing Liberty. They really don't come out of the ground as much as you would expect.

Oh I agree. This is the first time since early November that I've been able to get out nicely do some real metal detecting, so in my mind it was a good hunt regardless of what I found just because I was outside doing something that I love doing. Now don't get me wrong… Once you've been bitten by the silver and gold bug you really want to find a lot of it.

Based on the makers Mark on the ring I got a pretty solid date on it. 1951-1957 Plus the house I was metal detecting out was built in the early 20s as well.
