Just got back from a long family vacation and i was dying to get the detector out. I went to a new foundation site but it started down pouring so i had to bail out. Wonder what else i would have got if it didn't start to rainI so bad. I managed to get enough finds to kill the craving though. I got a nice brass lock plate with multiple patent dates stamped on it,a Victoria Nova Scotia thistle token,1896 Newfoundland one cent, big horse bridle rosette, two spoons and a suspender piece i think. As usual the photos aren't the best. Thanks for looking! [emoji2]

The rosette, the suspender clip and the hallmarked lock plate are really nice finds my friend! :occasion14:

You're fortunate to find a brass one, most of the lock plates that I've ever found have been iron and are usually very toasty! :laughing7:

If I were you, I'd tumble that baby and proudly display it!

Thanks. I thought the lock plate was a decent find for sure. I wonder what it was actually on? Like a door or box? I forgot about this thread because it disappeared so fast! Haha

I noticed that about your thread too, sometimes other posts just seem to get more attention. :icon_scratch:
I found the key to getting more views and feedback posted is to have an exciting title to your post like... '19thc. Maker Marked - Lock Plate Found', something like that.
This isn't like CMD where Bruce and Micheal are guaranteed to respond to everyone's post! :laughing7:

I think this lock plate was part of a large trunk/chest, which either simply fell out or was pried out by a thief to gain access to the contents inside.

Best of luck to you K,
Dave

The only problem i have now is the super tall grass. I hit all the low grass spots hard. There is probably 90% of the site left to do but ill have to wait. Luckily I'm a winter and early spring hunter also when i can! [emoji2]

Nice older finds. Glad you have a good spot to go back to.
