Finally my first 3 ringer and the boy finds ? unknown

Wow, Finally after alot of clad coins and usually farm pieces I found my first 3 ringer.

My boy found this and it appears to be brass or some kind of mix metal as it registered between 80-90 and has a little green tint to it.

It looks like possible the end of a tool or something. Any ideas?

Its ruffly 1 1/4 inch wide and 1 inches tall. I think it may be a lock or at least part of one?
