well heres a good find --a whole dang town --while doing a bit of research -- I stumbled across a map of georgia from a (english) map from 1779 that showed the "border" area along the st marys river with florida -- pre 1763 when spain owned florida this area was a buffer zone between spanish florida and english georgia --however once the english got florida from spain in 1763 they "adjusted" the border to show the st marys river as the border between the two states. --- during the american revolt the state of florida stayed english loyal and was a safe haven for english raiders the raided the plantation of georgia and south carolina --(like Dan Mcgirtt) -- after losing the war britian held on a few years but then decided not to keep florida and in 1783 it return florida to spanish control -- the town does not show on a (american) georgia map of 1836 *

so what happened to anderson? -- was it a town formed up by british loyalist when the english took control of florida in 1763 ? and then after the war when britian left in 1783 did they uproot and leave to other "british" places? --or did they leave and go into "american" georgia after england gave florida to spain rather than live under spanish rule? -- or was the town destroyed by a cross border american raiding party during the war? --- humm many questions ---

well folks what do you think --if you know anything useful add it -- I'd like to hear from ya'll ==the two maps --that I got my info from was located in the "georiga virtual vault" website --1779 map & 1836 map of georgia. --- Ivan

I live on the wrong coast for your find to do me any good. I'm betting people are just not showing any excitement, but are on their way there now hoping to find the good stuff before someone else does

It was good of you to share your find. I hope you make some good discovery's there.

Good hunting, John K

i share my sentiments with rifleman but thanks for the interesting post.

Ivan, I can tell that you love to research those long-forgotten sites, which is what I mainly focus on, too. However, I don't think that you should post a potential "hotspot" on this open forum, though. ??? As John Walter would always state, "I don't like to tell no one where I am going; it creates too much animosity." :D

If I knew the area a little better, I could possibly point you in the right direction.

Good luck in your quest to solve this mystery!

Kyle

I will say, "Good Job." Now, get your butt out there and show us all you find. HH...Jesse.

Take along your 9mm to keep the cottonmouths and gators at bay.
