Trekked into the watershed this afternoon and started detecting at 2:30 near a pile of rocks and came away with a small portion of a tombac button. Hiked up the hill and down the other side and found a pewter button and a horseshoe on the opposite hillside. Worked the hillside and stumbled upon a sunken path at its base; the path is about 4 feet deep. First target in this path was an 1891 IHC, then a 1918 wheat, a small flat button, two more IHCs, half a horseshoe and a plated spoon made by Jefferson Silver Plate. All the coins were more of less down the center of this path and show signs of being ridden over. This path would have been used between 1830 and early 1920s according to history of the site. The 1866 IHC is a reasonably rare find as far as IHCs go.

This 'path' is about 500 feet from the former home site. I believe the types and concentration of finds along this feature and that the bottom has a layer of stones mixed with soil is evidence that this was used as a path. I did not detect all of it and could clear debris to do a more thorough search.
