having a upside down season this year(just like Crusader) our Villa field has not been ploughed, just heavily disced minimal cultavation is the term they use

I can't see this field producing much this year now but I have a few good back up fields comming up. hopefully they wiil produce the goods

never boring but bloody hard work sometimes :P I put in 14 hours at the weekend for those, must have dug at least 500 targets.

Some type of Roman mount(I think) can't find a one to match to it though

Great finds, as you "over the ponders" normally do. We see you guys killing us with these great pieces of history. It seems so commonplace we tend to forget all the back breaking labor it takes to produce them. I'll take it for granted no longer...you really work for them! Kudos!!! Pass the Bengay please.

12 hours well spent, I would say. Saxon strapend

The object looks to be a wild boar, can't see enough but I guess a Romano-Celtic figurine. Very nice find

I was lucky on Sunday to see my 2nd Fav ploughed deep, because as you say it only happens once every so often (4-5 years).

I took the rest of the week off to beat the hoards. This may improve my hit rate, the luck I need to turn it around again.

Great finds! I have always wanted to ask the farmer if he would for once like in the fall do a deep plowing of the field to turn over the soil that is deeper down with richer minerals. Just to see what they would say and see if they would do it!
