Started out the day at my favorite park and went for hours without finding any good coins. Yeah I found wheaties, and old ones too, 1909-1916, but no Indians or silver. That all changed in the last couple of hours. Started pulling a few Indians and then popped an 1883 seated dime. I like finding lots of good coins like anyone else, but if I pull seated I always consider it a good day. Ended up pulling a Barber dime and small silver ring to finish up. Really thought I might get skunked at one point, but although it was my worst day in years for Indians, it ended up being a good day. Thought I would put a photo of the Indians before cleaning with those pencils by Andre.

Here's what we all ended up getting. Jimmy kicked butt with a seated half dime, flying eagle cent, 3 cent nickel and a dozen Indians. Paul did well with a Barber dime, couple of mercs and 6 Indians.

I'm in southeastern NY. Putnam County.

Splendid Hunt. Seated and Barber Dimes are the best, plus you scored a couple of full LIBERTY IH Cents! :icon_thumright:

Do you have specific method for cleaning?

I find a lot of Indians in nice shape Wildcat. Here's some of my better late dates, finds from last year by date and a pile of the rest from 2016. I missed finding the complete set last year by 6 coins. Sorry some of my seated finds are in one of the pics. I also added a photo of the 1864-L to show how bad my picture of the Indian set is. Coins are much better than the photo.

I use these cleaning pencils. They do a great job on Indians and 2 cent pieces. I also use them sometimes on old wheaties. I even use the finishing pencil Very Lightly on Some large cents. Most large cents are too easily destroyed, but if you have a hard patina on the coin and you want to lightly remove some dirt, they work. Here's a 2 cent piece and large cent I used them on. You can find them at https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=restoring your finds metal detecting

A very nice date indian coin collection

Those were just what I found last year. I "only" need the 1877 and 1909-S to complete the set out of the ground. I only need the 1916-D to complete the Merc set.

I have NO doubt you'll complete both of those sets DON!!!!!!! Wishin you luck!!!!

Looks like a great hunt as usual!!! Congrats on the Seated!! Other finds great also. Jimmy's ability to consistently find so many Indians amazes me. WTG Don

Congratulations on the productive coin shooting! :occasion14:
