It looks like I have an excuse now to rebuild the front porch and dig it all out in the process. I was sitting in my living room reading the latest issue of western eastern treasures magazine as my 22 month daughter was taking a nap. When I smelled smoke at first I thought my neighbor was burning his leaves again which he always does and it's illegal in this town. But when I got out front it was my porch that was on fire NOT COOl!!!!!. It's a shame because you just can't get millwork for these houses anymore its too costly. But I'm looking forward to what's under there.- Justin

Yo Justin, glad to hear everyone is safe. Do you have any idea what started the fire? Old wiring? I'm glad everyone is ok but the little short guy with horns on my left shoulder has been looking for a reason to see what's under the porch. Tell me, did you call out the "hooks and ladder" boys?

It's been a crazy couple of days I guess my nieghbor was mowing his lawn and he tossed a lit cigarette into my yard. The fire department showed up just as I got the fire out with my garden hose. Ill just say I'm not happy with my nieghbor. I'm glad it was my porch and not the house. But I can only imagine the goodies that are burried under there. I'm hoping for bitters.

Well it all turned out for the best right? And I like the surf impression, Bass. Save me a burger or two.

nice neighbor. glad it was daytime, you were all awake and were successful in extinguishing the flames. now the fun of dealing with those rotten insurance adjusters.

Yeah I guess it turned out for the best I just wasn't planning on working on that porch just yet . But now I have no choice I guess. The insurance adjuster is coming tommorow this should be fun.

Dang brother! That could have been much, much worse. Glad it wasn't. And now to find what lies beneath...! (yay) And now I'm hungry 8-).. thanks for that Bass. ;) Yak

Jamey i have detected under the porch a few times in the past i recovered a few barber coins and indian heads i imagine theres more. i just need to the room to swing the coil.

Sorry about the fire ,glad it wasn't worse !!!! if you cant swing, use a sifter, hope there is some more goodies waiting for you

You should tell your neighbor that as partial payment you be allowed to look for privies on his property.
Yepper.
Carl

Curbdiggercarl I really like that idea lol. His house was built in the 1860s so there could be some privies there.
