I have been thinking how cool it would be to find an undisturbed campfire from the past. But I know that is most unlikely due to the weather and other such things as modern day farming practices. But I decided to see what I could find in the "disturbed" sense. So I found a place where the farming had strung out some firecracked rocks for a short distance on top of the ground. I collected them and started to dig in the center. Here is what I dug out and MOST of them came from the small spot where I dug right next to the pile. I must have picked the right spot. (Yes I am patting myself on the back for that wild guess.) IMG_0966.webpIMG_0967.webp

Yes indeed, that is a pile of fire rock!! Looks like a lots of work. You can always use some good ol rock somewhere around the ranch I am sure.

I am hoping it will rain so it looks prettier. And it was not hard to dig as I dug it up with the mine probe that is in the picture.

Nice post! Ever once in a while I come across river rock (usually always granite) that is red colored and often broken. When I find these fragments I know that there was a camp site in this area.
