I redid my yard a few year back, bet I did it then 🤣 should have busted out the detector prior to tilling.
Ouch.
I once hit my pick right into a 1/2 ounce jewellry quality nugget. It was good enough at the time to be worth 2 to 3 times its spot price if I hadn't.
Its bound to happen now n then. :dontknow:
Fingers crossed your next ones in tact.

Even beat up it's still very cool! And finding it in your own yard is neat too. Grats!

Any Seated find is a great find! :hello2:
Welcome to Tnet too.

Congrats,
Dave

Welcome to the forum and a big congrats on your first Seated Liberty coin ! :icon_thumright:

Congrats on the old silver.
Does the tear mark go right through it or not?
Looks like it had lots of wear after the initial damage as the edges of the marks are smoothed.
It does tell that your dirt in the yard has some history.

Very nice find congrats

It may be damaged, but at least there is enough detail to identify the coin. That is going to happen throughout your metal detecting career. The real bummer is when you pull a coin out, and there is just no way of identifying it. Nice find and welcome to the forum.
